The most pleasant for children is probably decorating the Christmas tree, using hand-made decorations, candies or baubles. Together, you can also prepare Christmas delicacies, such as gingerbread, cakes or other delicacies. These joint activities will make family ties even closer, and the waiting for Christmas is a kind of magical time.

Christmas Eve traditions

Each of us remembers that there should be 12 dishes on the table on Christmas Eve, but do we know why such an amount? Well, it probably refers to the 12 apostles, but in some regions of the world it speaks of 12 months of the year. According to her, the gifts of soil from the field, orchard, forest and water should appear on the table. Therefore, the delicacies include mushroom soup, carp, poppy seed cake and dried fruit compote. It should be mentioned here that the set of Christmas Eve dishes may differ depending on the region of Poland. In Greater Poland and Silesia, fish soup is served, and in the east of the country or Lesser Poland, borscht or mushroom soup in Silesia can also be served with linseed soup, the so-called Cradle cap.

Many families cultivate the process of making dumplings with mushrooms and cabbage or baking cakes. It is also a great idea to cram the cloves in oranges and arrange them as a wonderful fragrant table decoration, and probably the whole family will always associate Christmas with this fragrance. It is not worth worrying about minor failures or even a mess in the kitchen during all these treatments, because doing these things will remain in the memory for many years, time spent with the family forever, and the smell of oranges with cloves will bring back family Christmas in the future.

When a beautiful Christmas tree finally stands in the corner of the room, it’s time to decorate the table. A hay should be placed under the festive tablecloth, which is a reference to the stable in which Jesus was born, and is also a symbol of simplicity and modesty. There is a superstition that if the first guest on Christmas Eve is a man, then happiness can be expected in the coming year, and a woman who prepares poppy seed dishes can expect happiness in love.

During dinner, remember to try all the dishes and eat poppy seed dishes, because they are supposed to provide us with financial abundance. Undoubtedly, the most exciting point and pleasant event of the evening is the moment when Santa presents Christmas presents to all gathered.
